Title: AI, Robot, plus IoT and its relationship with Data Protection and Privacy
Abstract: Professor Shimpo would like to refer to the necessity of proceeding with academic research regarding Robot Law including AI and the Internet of Things(IoT) and its relationship with Data Protection and Privacy. AI and autonomous robots may well be able to realise the creation and development of a totally new, and as yet unknown, set of social and legal systems which will have to be used successfully on a daily basis in the real world.
Such new AI society where personal data will be put to a sophisticated use under IoT, advances in data analytics by machine learning make it possible to identify particular person or infer sensitive information including those from unexpected sources. The misuse of AI can affect core values and principles, such as individual autonomy, privacy and may have a broader impact on society as a whole. Therefore, we have to consider carefully all of these potentially serious problems in order to secure safe procedures for their use in a potentially very different and new, human environment.
