Topic: Criminal Infringement of Personal Information in China – Legislation and Cases
Abstract: The “Interpretation of the Supreme People’s Court on Certain Issues Regarding the Laws Applicable to the Handling of Criminal Cases Involving Infringement of Citizens’ Personal Information” has come into force on June 1st, 2017. Cases followed the Interpretation suggest added compliance risk for business operating in China in obtaining and utilizing personal information. The presentation will introduce this Interpretation and explain the new risks that companies face as well as provide advice on how an effective compliance program could minimize company’s criminal liability.
